i've probably just made something rather simple sound immensely more complicated than need be, so the jist of it is...for each of the next 7 days, i'll highlight a theme from my (hypothetical) wish-list and highlight a round-up of potential goodies to fulfill each theme... it'll make sense once i get going, i promise.
drumroll...today's theme...iPhone cases. so im about to be blissfully released from my 2-year contract, meaning i can upgrade to the much-loved/much-despised/definitely polarizing iPhone 5. for the record, i'm pretty psyched because a) my current iPhone 4 is moving more at a turtle-rather-than-hare pace due to the fact that i've held out on updating the software to ios5 or whatever it is, because the last time i did so, my phone book was deleted. and okay, to be honest, some of those numbers (*ahem*those belonging to particular male persons*ahem*) were waaaaaay overdue for being deleted. but still. in addition to chrome crashing and restarting without restoring previously opened tabs, an unceremoniously deleted address book is among my greatest technological fears; and because b) a new phone necessarily means a new case.
i realize part of the appeal of these sleek 'n' sexy iPhone 5's are the gilded aspect and whatnot, but i am allllll about the phone cases. while i don't switch my case out anywhere near as frequently as i do my bags to suit my mood, i still like to have a couple different options in rotation.
so as you might have noticed, my current case is this peek-a-boo style from kate spade:
it'll be a bit of a bummer to part with it, but i'm not especially loving the iPhone 5 winking version of those come hither eyes...
but true to form, kate spade offers some excellent options for the 5, such as this fortune cookie-inspired design:
i'm partial to it because for awhile, i had this one fortune i got wayyyyy back when that i was really into (it said, cryptically of course: your smile is a curve that can get a lot of things straight). and i kept taping it to any new case i got, but it got worn out and faded and frankly kind of gross.
option 2 courtesy of kate:
but is it too precious? will i hate myself if i happen to be wearing pearls one day and then i pull out my phone and then i'm a girl wearing pearls texting on a phone wearing pearls? i feel like i might.
so madewell has been stepping up its game a lot lately i think, and they have a cheeky case that i think is pretty endearing:
get it? bien --> 'well' + fait --> 'made' = well-made = made-well
zing! that definitely deserves a wink
next up, cynthia rowley. did you know cynthia rowley makes iPhone cases? i did not. tho i guess it's probably safe to assume most designers will have some sort of tech accessories collection these days since those sorts of accessories are rapidly becoming an integral part of your personal style, falling in line behind your heels, your handbag, etc...(at least i think so. i mean, i am devoting an entire blog post to phone cases after all)
so this case is literally a party. i mean, confetti is flying and everything.
and finally! i've had my eye on this for awhile now, because i think it'd just be a very sweet message to remind yourself of each time you glance down at your phone.
decisions, decisions. it's gonna be one tough case to crack.
ps - terrible puns such as the above are generally my cue to call it a night.
maybe a grand reveal about which one(s) i chose will be made a week from today!
